About Claire Heaven

Claire Heaven was born in Wiltshire, England, before emigrating to Western Canada. She spent most of her childhood and teenage years in a small town outside Vancouver, before embarking on a love affair with travel that would take her back to the UK as her base. Since the early 2000's, she’s travelled through Europe, the Middle East, Africa and parts of Asia.

Claire has been writing since she was young, using her creativity to capture moments and explore life’s themes. Claire started her blog in 2008, to bring together her love of travel and love of writing. More recently, she has begun self-publishing her writing in books. Her first book, The Essence of Spirit, was published in 2021. Her second book, The Wheel of Imagination, will be published in May 2025.

Growing up in Canada, the beauty of the mountains and the lakes captured Claire’s imagination and she began to take an interest in photography. But it wasn’t until coming back to the UK that she became more seriously interested in photography. Her photos capture the essence of the places she visits - when light, colour, composition and that elusive secret ingredient (the ‘spirit’ of the place) combine to create a memorable moment.
